CBS News is reporting that former radiology technician Rachael Rapraeger has pleaded guilty to 10 counts of reckless conduct and one charge of computer forgery.
Rapraeger entered nearly 1,300 mammogram results as negative, even though a radiologist had never reviewed them.
Ten of the results were actually positive, and two of the patients have since passed away; however, it is uncertain if they died because of cancer-related problems.
The defense attorney said that Rapraeger entered the negative results because she felt “overwhelmed” and had fallen behind on her work.
She has been sentenced to 10 years of probation and will serve up to six months in a state detention center.
